GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 19th Jan. As India prepares to celebrate its 76th Republic Day, Delhi is bustling with activity, marked by parade rehearsals, tightened security measures, and temporary flight restrictions.

The rehearsals for the grand parade have commenced on Kartavyapath, featuring various contingents practicing for the main event. To facilitate these preparations, the Delhi Traffic Police have issued a detailed advisory, restricting traffic movement across key crossings, including Rafi Marg, Janpath, Mansingh Road, and the C-Hexagon on Kartavyapath. These restrictions are in effect from 10:15 AM to 12:30 PM daily, from January 17 to January 21, urging commuters to plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

In addition to traffic restrictions, stringent security measures have been implemented across the city. A complete ban on drone operations and sub-conventional aerial platforms has been enforced in Delhi from January 18 to February 1. Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora stated that this prohibition aims to mitigate potential threats from anti-social elements or terrorists during the Republic Day celebrations. Violations of this directive will attract penalties under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Flight Disruptions at Delhi Airport

As part of Republic Day preparations, airspace restrictions will also affect flight operations at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. From January 18 to January 26, all arrivals and departures will be suspended daily between 10:20 AM and 12:45 PM IST. These restrictions, essential for security during Republic Day week, were announced by the airport operator Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL).

DIAL has actively used social media to inform travelers, issuing a “Notice to Airmen” (NOTAM) advisory detailing the specific time slots for flight halts. Passengers are advised to stay in contact with their airlines for updates and adjust their travel plans accordingly.

High Vigilance Across the Capital

The multi-layered security arrangements underscore the importance of Republic Day and its associated events. With the participation of dignitaries, global guests, and the public, the measures aim to ensure a seamless and secure celebration. From traffic diversions to airspace restrictions, Delhi is leaving no stone unturned to make the 76th Republic Day celebrations both memorable and safe.
