Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Philadelphia International Airport on Saturday, marking the beginning of a significant three-day visit to the United States. PM Modi’s trip will encompass participation in the Quad Leaders’ Summit, hosted by US President Joe Biden, and an address at the United Nations General Assembly.
Speaking on the significance of PM Modi’s visit, NewsMobile Editor-in-Chief Saurabh Shukla said, “Under Prime Minister Modi and Joe Biden, India and the US have had one of the best relationships ever. Our relationship with the US has never been better.”
EIC Shukla recalled PM Modi’s previous visit and his red-carpet reception in Washington, DC. Shukla noted, “When Prime Minister Modi visited Washington, D.C., he was one of the few foreign leaders to receive a red carpet welcome. This visit aims to further strengthen India’s partnership with the US.”
EIC Shukla further highlighted that the visit is also being viewed as a tribute to President Biden’s legacy, especially in terms of fostering a robust Indo-US partnership. Shukla stated, “Prime Minister Modi’s visit is one of his shortest trips to the U.S. due to ongoing domestic elections. But PM Modi also wanted to honor this summit as a farewell to Biden’s legacy, who has played a crucial role in cementing Indo-US ties.”
Despite differences on various issues, NewsMobile Editor-In-Chief emphasized that both nations understand the importance of working through disagreements.
EIC Shukla also underscored PM Modi’s expanding global influence, describing him as a “peacemaker” in global diplomacy. “He’s the only leader who had a meeting with Putin and Zelenskyy, one of the only global leaders who has done it of this nature. That puts us on very high pedestals. Positioning India as a global power committed to peace,” he said. India’s approach to foreign policy, he noted, is focused on “creating a better and safer world” while elevating its status as a global power.
PM Modi’s UN address is expected to highlight India’s leadership in the global south, and its commitment to advancing key global issues such as artificial intelligence, green technology, and maintaining stability in the Indo-Pacific. “India’s leading the way today on the international global discourse and also making sure that as a democracy representing more than 1.4 billion people, we show the way, whether it’s AI, whether it’s green technology, whether it’s Making sure it’s a stable and secure Indo Pacific, or finding a way to end these wars, whether in Ukraine Or in Gaza,” EIC Shukla said.
“The prime minister will deliver the message that India is a champion for the global south and a close ally of the west in solving global challenges,” Shukla added.
