New Delhi, 15th Jan. In recent months, a spate of reports from American media outlets has reignited tensions between Bharat and the West, exposing an intricate web of narratives designed to undermine Bharat’s growing global influence. Two articles in particular, one alleging Bharat’s involvement in the Maldivian political scene and the other accusing Bharat of carrying out targeted assassinations in Pakistan, stand out for their timing and intent.

These allegations emerge as the United States prepares for a political transition with Donald Trump assuming the presidency. The timing suggests a calculated attempt to sow discord and tarnish Bharat’s image as a rising global power. At the heart of these narratives lies the agenda of the US deep state—a powerful network operating behind the scenes to control international geopolitics—seemingly determined to curtail Bharat’s growing assertiveness.

Bharat’s Role in the Maldives: A Strategic Misrepresentation

The first report accused Bharat of scheming with Maldivian politicians to oust the newly elected pro-China President, Mohamed Muizzu. The claim was quickly refuted by both the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Maldivian Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel. Khaleel, during his Bharat visit, described the accusations as baseless, emphasizing that there was no evidence to support such claims.

The timing of this report appears to align with ongoing efforts to discredit Bharat’s influence in the Indo-Pacific region. Bharat’s strategic role in the Maldives, marked by its longstanding partnerships and defense collaborations, is a direct counterbalance to growing Chinese influence in the region. Accusations of meddling, therefore, serve to reinforce a narrative of Bharat as a “big brother,” interfering in the sovereignty of its neighbors.

Bharatiya intelligence officials have pointed to rogue elements within the US State Department, allegedly linked to anti-Bharat lobbying groups, as the driving force behind such narratives. These officials argue that the deep state’s discomfort with Bharat’s growing geopolitical clout fuels these smear campaigns.

The Pakistan Allegations: A Thinly Veiled Smear

The second report, published on December 31, 2024, accused Bharat’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) of orchestrating targeted assassinations in Pakistan. It claimed that Bharat had used local criminals and Afghan contractors to carry out these operations, with payments routed through intermediaries in Dubai.

These allegations, lacking credible evidence, conveniently echo Pakistan’s long-standing narrative of blaming Bharat for its internal failures. The timing of the report, coinciding with the Maldivian controversy, suggests a coordinated effort to isolate Bharat diplomatically.

While the Pakistani media amplified the claims, the broader intent appears to be twofold: to undermine Bharat’s global standing and to deflect attention from the country’s own domestic issues, including its deteriorating internal security and economic instability.

The Deep State’s Anti-Bharat Agenda

The recurrence of such narratives in Western media highlights the deep state’s intent to keep Bharat in check. While the US outwardly engages with Bharat as a key partner in the Indo-Pacific, the deep state views Bharat’s independent foreign policy as a potential threat to American hegemony.

Bharat’s growing assertiveness, particularly in its economic and military dealings, has made it a focal point of both cooperation and contention in Washington. While initiatives like iCET (Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology) promote technological collaboration, the deep state simultaneously funds organizations and media outlets that work to undermine Bharat’s global image.

This dual strategy reflects the deep state’s discomfort with Bharat’s potential to emerge as a rival to both the US and China. By creating and amplifying anti-Bharat narratives, it seeks to shape global opinion and limit Bharat’s strategic autonomy.

Soros and the Media Nexus

One of the key figures in this anti-Bharat ecosystem is George Soros, the billionaire philanthropist with a history of supporting causes that align with his ideological leanings. Soros, who was controversially awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Joe Biden, has been a vocal critic of the Bharatiya government. His foundation, Open Society Foundations, has funded numerous organizations and media outlets that have targeted Bharat’s policies.

The influence of Soros extends to over 180 media outlets globally, enabling the amplification of narratives that align with his agenda. This media machinery has been instrumental in framing Bharat’s elections, policies, and socio-political developments in a negative light, often with little regard for nuance or factual accuracy.

Western Media’s Selective Outrage

The Western media’s double standards are glaringly evident in its coverage of global events. While it uncritically amplifies baseless accusations against Bharat, it remains silent on the actions of the US deep state in regions like Bangladesh. The regime change in Bangladesh, widely seen as orchestrated by external forces, has gone largely unreported, highlighting the selective nature of Western media narratives.

Similarly, accusations against Bharat in the Pannun case in the US or Canada’s claims regarding Bharat’s alleged involvement in Khalistani issues were widely reported without substantial evidence. This selective outrage underscores the media’s role in furthering an agenda that aligns with the deep state’s interests.

Bharat’s Response to the Deep State’s Games

Bharat’s rise as a global power comes with its share of challenges, including the need to counter narratives designed to undermine its sovereignty. The deep state’s actions, while troubling, reflect Bharat’s growing importance on the world stage.

Bharat must adopt a multi-pronged approach to address these challenges. Strengthening diplomatic outreach, enhancing media literacy, and countering misinformation through credible platforms are essential. Additionally, fostering alliances with like-minded nations can help mitigate the influence of anti-Bharat lobbying groups.

At the same time, Bharat must remain vigilant against internal vulnerabilities that can be exploited by external forces. By addressing issues such as social inequality and communal tensions, Bharat can build a more resilient society that is less susceptible to external manipulation.

Conclusion: Charting a Path Forward

The recent spate of anti-Bharat narratives in Western media underscores the complexities of Bharat’s rise on the global stage. While these narratives are designed to tarnish Bharat’s image, they also serve as a testament to the country’s growing influence.

Bharat’s response must be measured but firm. By addressing these narratives with factual accuracy and leveraging its growing global partnerships, Bharat can counter the deep state’s attempts to undermine its sovereignty.

As Bharat continues to assert itself on the world stage, it must navigate the challenges posed by external forces with a combination of strategic foresight, diplomatic acumen, and unwavering commitment to its national interests. The path ahead is not without obstacles, but Bharat’s resilience and determination will undoubtedly guide it toward a brighter future.
