Agartala, 11th Jan. The full team of the 16th Finance Commission, led by Chairman Arvind Panagariya, is scheduled to visit Tripura from January 29 to February 1 for a four-day consultation. The visit aims to assess the state’s financial requirements and gather input from various stakeholders, officials said on Saturday.

State Finance Secretary Apurba Roy confirmed that the commission will meet Chief Minister Manik Saha and hold discussions with senior government officials to understand Tripura’s financial priorities. The agenda includes meetings with representatives from local urban bodies such as the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), and delegations from political parties to hear their views and demands.

The commission will evaluate Tripura’s fund requirements for non-plan expenditures over the five-year period beginning April 1, 2026, according to a senior official.

In addition to Chairman Panagariya, the visiting team includes members Ajay Narayan Jha, Annie George Mathew, and Manoj Panda, as well as Secretary Ritvik Pandey.
