New Delhi, 17th Sept. The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, launched an e-auction featuring over 600 gifts and mementos presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Scheduled to run from September 17 to October 2, 2024, this online auction will showcase a rich collection reflecting India’s diverse cultural, spiritual, historical, and political heritage.
Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, announced the auction at the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. The auction will include an array of traditional art forms, such as vibrant paintings, intricate sculptures, and indigenous handicrafts, along with ceremonial items like traditional angavastras, shawls, headgear, and ceremonial swords.
A notable feature of this auction is the inclusion of sports memorabilia from the 2024 Paralympic Games, celebrating India’s achievements in sports. The collection also honors India’s freedom fighters and historical warriors through various artifacts.
This e-auction marks the sixth edition of such events, which have collectively raised over ₹50 crore since their inception in January 2019. Proceeds from this auction will contribute to the Namami Gange Project, aimed at the conservation and restoration of the Ganga River and its ecosystem.

Additionally, a special sand art demonstration by renowned artist and Padma Shri awardee Shri Sudarsan Pattnaik was inaugurated at the National Gallery of Modern Art. This installation, crafted from sand and 2,000 earthen lamps, celebrates Vishwakarma Diwas and embodies the theme of “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India), reflecting the cultural and spiritual ethos of the occasion.
