New Delhi, 16th Oct. The Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI), in collaboration with Tidal Wave Pvt Ltd, is demonstrating the transformative impact of 5G technology on the mining industry at the ongoing India Mobile Congress 2024 (IMC 2024) at Pragati Maidan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated IMC 2024 earlier today, emphasizing the significance of technological advancements in various sectors. Among the first to visit CMPDI’s stall was Shri P.M. Prasad, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Coal India Limited, accompanied by senior officials from CMPDI, including CMD Shri Manoj Kumar.

5G technology enables real-time communication, allowing for remote monitoring and control in challenging environments while surpassing traditional wireless technologies like Wi-Fi. This innovation ensures seamless automation, reduces risks, and supports future-ready operations, making it indispensable for the digital future of mining.
The Coal Ministry previously demonstrated various 5G technology use cases, including AI-powered cameras and vehicle tracking systems, at the Amlohri Open Cast Mine in Northern Coalfields Limited during IMC 2023. CMPDI played a crucial role in deploying India’s first private 5G network in coal mining at the Amlohri OCP.
