Sambalpur, 4th Dec. In a daring heist, about 30 kg of gold and over ₹4 lakh in cash were stolen from the Budharaja Main Road branch of Manappuram Finance in Sambalpur city on Friday morning.
The robbery occurred shortly after the branch opened. A group of 7-10 robbers, wearing helmets and masks, stormed the premises, holding three employees at gunpoint and tying up the branch manager. While some gang members guarded the premises, others obtained the keys and password to the vault, looting gold jewellery and cash before fleeing on motorcycles.
SDPO Tophan Bag stated that CCTV footage is being reviewed and employees are being questioned to gather leads.
Manappuram Finance estimated the value of the stolen assets at approximately ₹20 crore. The company assured customers that their assets would be fully compensated and confirmed that no staff or customers were injured during the incident.
Police are intensifying their investigation to apprehend the culprits and recover the stolen property.
