Imphal, 16th Oct. Manipur Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the arson attack on the Sub Deputy Commissioner (SDC) office in Kumbi, Bishnupur district, last month, according to an official statement released on Wednesday. The suspects were apprehended on Monday and have been remanded into police custody for four days as the investigation continues.
The incident occurred on the night of September 26, when unknown miscreants set fire to the SDC office. Prompt action by local residents and police helped to limit the damage caused to the building. Authorities are actively working to identify and arrest other individuals involved in the incident.
In a separate development, security forces conducted a search operation in the Leirongthel Pitra Uyok Ching area of Thoubal district, leading to the seizure of a large cache of arms. The recovered items include one 7.62 mm AK Rifle with a magazine, a 7.62 SLR Rifle with a magazine, a 9 mm SMG Rifle with a magazine, a 9 mm pistol with a magazine, a 12 mm bore single-barrel gun, and several hand grenades. The discovery is part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the region.
