Bhubaneswar, 9th Jan.The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention was held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, with the theme “Role of Diaspora in Building a Developed India.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address, lauded the contributions of the Indian diaspora to the nation’s growth and its global image.
A key highlight of the event was the launch of the Pravasi Bharatiya Express, a special tourist train aimed at showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage. Odisha’s cultural legacy was celebrated through exhibitions and performances, including the Mukteswar Dance Festival.
The convention also revisited the diaspora’s role in India’s freedom struggle and explored their potential in driving future development goals. Delegates from over 160 countries participated, with notable representation from Mauritius. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar emphasized the deep cultural and economic ties between India and its global diaspora.
The event showcased India’s unity in diversity while strengthening bonds with its overseas community.
